ZDF presenter Jan Böhmermann: “You need an outlet and it has to be frivolous”

It will be called "The Possibility of Unreason" and will take place at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW): According to the ZDF presenter, Jan Böhmermann & Gruppe Royale are planning an exhibition in Berlin from September 27 to October 19, 2025. Böhmermann announced this in the current episode of his podcast "Fest & Flauschig," which he hosts together with entertainer Olli Schulz on Spotify.
"The corridors of what can be said, explored, and represented need to be expanded, not narrowed," is how Böhmermann describes the central idea of his art project, for which, according to Jan Trautmann, press spokesperson for the HKW, he "wants to occupy the Pregnant Oyster for three weeks." This central idea is a quote from Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer, which he wrote in a guest article in the "Süddeutsche Zeitung," so it can be understood as a barb against Weimer.
Holding the sausage up to society"It's time to put the sausage in society's hands," Böhmermann adds to the motto of his campaign, justifying his choice of Berlin and the HKW as follows: "The political, social, and legal questions of the present must be addressed where they are being negotiated. This building—a gift from the USA to West Berlin and the democratic Federal Republic of Germany —is a time capsule and reminds us never to let the beacon of freedom go out."
The HKW residency of "The Possibility of Unreason" is Böhmermann and his team's third and most comprehensive exhibition to date. Over the course of three weeks, they plan to establish a diverse event program with special concerts, shows, TV recordings, performances, film screenings, and panel discussions, together with fellow artists, musicians, and other guests.
